Shared Donor Egg versus Non-Shared Donor Egg

Options for Egg Donation and How it Works

Shady Grove Fertility’s innovative Shared Donor Egg Programme was developed to decrease the cost of your treatment by up to 60 percent. On average we retrieve between 18 and 21 eggs in a donor cycle, and we’ve allowed recipients to use all of the eggs for themselves or share the eggs and costs anonymously with one or two other recipients.

Our Shared Egg Donor Treatment still allows access to our donor database, which hosts donor profiles with images and extensive information about genetics, family and medical history, and personality characteristics. All of our donors have undergone a stringent medical, psychological, and genetic screening before being accepted. Only 3 percent of donor applicants are accepted, which shows the robust screening standards we require.

Shared Donor Egg vs. Non- Shared Donor Egg Treatment

With our Shared Donor Egg Programme, once you’ve decided on a donor, you’ll wait for other patients to choose your egg donor as well, thus beginning the process. If, for example, your donor is part of a 1:3 cycle, this means you will wait for two more patients to come forward and choose the same donor. If two couples have chosen a donor and a third does not come forward within 30 days, the process will still continue and Shady Grove Fertility will take the role of the third patient.  This is an extremely rare occurance though, as most matches happen within two weeks. When there is a successful match it takes 8 weeks for the embryo transfer to occur.

Non-Shared Donor Egg Treatment

Because you won’t be sharing a donor with any other patients, your process can begin right away as soon as you decide on a donor. Because we don’t have a waiting list, the next stage is embryo transfer, which usually takes up to 6 to 8 weeks.

Donor Egg for Same Sex Couples

If you’re a same sex couple, your selected gestational carrier must undergo medical and psychological examinations, as well as establish a legal agreement before you can move forward. Frozen sperm samples will then be used to inseminate donated eggs and the embryo will be transferred to the gestational carrier at the correct stage of development.

Whichever form of egg donation you choose, Shady Grove Fertility is committed to supporting you throughout the process. We offer a Shared Risk 100% Refund Programme that pledges if you don’t take home a baby, your money is refunded (some exclusions apply). It’s these types of promises and reassurances that have helped make Shady Grove Fertility one of the world’s leading providers of egg donation treatment. We work with patients on an individual basis and there’s no one-size-fits-all approach here.
